  • I can't believe it...

Today was a GREAT day at work! I had plenty to do, the Big Boss was in a terrific mood, and when he wasn't, he didn't yell or bellow or anything...he even engaged me in conversation; non-work conversation. He was friendly without being scary or frightening.  I felt...productive. Happy. Not in the wrong place.   :)

And the Greater Tuna rehearsal went so well tonight...I was worried Julia and I wouldn't be able to replicate our dressing abilities when we dressed Gideon in A Tuna Xmas a season or two ago, but even though we have thirteen quick changes in the second act, it wasn't so bad...I was very happy, as was Julia.  We have one quick change that is really quick, but we're already working on making it easier. And Marni and Christy seem to have their quick changes down as well...this show is going to be easy and fun and no one will be upset or stressed out. Yay.  :) Of course, it doesn't hurt that we only have FIVE changes in the first act...

An old friend of mine has managed to sell her house and is buying a bigger one, which means when I visit her, I have a place to stay, which I'm very excited about, for some reason. Normally, I don't like sleeping in other people's homes. I only participated in sleepovers a few times when I was a kid, and I remember them as very uncomfortable--sleeping on the floor, worrying about using the bathroom at 2 am because you drank too much soda before insisting sleeping on the floor would be fun...then getting up the next morning, only to discover you forgot your toothbrush, you didn't bring clean underwear, and your back hurts from sleeping in a funny position on the floor. And as an adult, sleepovers are just as fraught with uncomfortableness...the bed's too firm or too soft, you forgot your toothbrush/makeup/clean clothes...it's just not worth it. That being said, there are those people who make it fun, cozy, and comfortable. And this friend of mine is one of those people. Lucky me!

Mom's show is this weekend...and it's First Friday ArtWalk tomorrow here in Springfield...and we have Greater Tuna rehearsal all weekend...and I need to finish painting the bathroom...cleaning the house...getting the yard mowed...

I'm actually looking forward to it! And all because today was a good day at work.  :)

  • We started "Greater Tuna" rehearsals last night...well, it was the first dressers' rehearsals last night. And Julia and I were delighted to discover we had five changes in the first act.  Marni and Christy had sixteen.   :)

It went fast, and before we knew it, we were done and ready to go home. Yay!! My favorite kind of rehearsal!

Other than that...the girl with swine flu is coming back to work today. Which I'm NOT looking forward to. I don't care if she's bored with staying home. I'd like to stay well...and I can't text. My phone is screwed up, apparently.

Tonight, we dress for the second act. Julia says we have eight changes. Marni has fifteen....

  • Just for the record:  today was not a "wheeeeeee!" day...

The swine flu has officially touched our office. TWO people have the H1N1 virus. So it was me and Jennifer and the Big Boss today. Which, actually, was kind of fun. I discovered that Jennifer is also looking for another job...she wasn't going to tell me, and tried to make a joke out of it, but I said, "Oh, quit lying. You know we're all looking." And she started to laugh, so I started to laugh...and the rest of the day was less painful.  :)

We worked today. We disinfected the entire office, from the front door back to the bathroom. And the Big Boss was in the best mood I think I've ever seen him in...he bought face masks and that antibacterial goo that is essentially rubbing alcohol...and he was happy. I think he felt a modicum of control in getting rid of the germs. I just hope we've sidestepped the swine flu!

For lunch, I went to the bookstore and ran into two favorite people of mine. We talked for a little while. I almost bought a book or two...especially the new hardcover by the woman who wrote "The Time Traveller's Wife."  I wasn't terribly impressed with that particular book, but I read an article on the author, and her new book (something something Tyranny something something) sounds really good, and she sounds like someone I would like to meet and/or hang out with. Very quirky, and her sensibilities regarding writing are very much like mine. And I also read the last part of the book, which Marni says is wrong, but it helps me decide whether to get the book or not. And I want this book! But I didn't get it. I will wait. *sigh*

It really was a satisfying day, even though I had to work hard and didn't buy any books. :)

  • Good day today.

I felt like I worked hard...I did lots of computer stuff, got yelled at by the Big Boss, although it was nothing drastic, and managed to avoid getting too close to the sickies in our office. The flu really is going around. And around and around. Our receptionist coughed so hard, she went running to the bathroom to vomit, and my supervisor was so sick, she sat at her desk and cried--that was not the best part of my day, but I have to admit, I did feel very grateful to be healthy.  :)

Went to the bookstore with Mom and Dad and my sister after work tonight. Mom and Dad just came back from St. Louis, where Mom has a gallery showing this weekend.  She's created some very unusual work...you can go to www.componere.com (click on S.J. Witte) to see what art pieces will be in the show. She's excited.  It's very cute.  :)

Wednesday, we start working on the "Greater Tuna" show...I can't wait to work with Julia and Gideon and Jamie and Marni and Beth...I hope we're as good at dressing Gideon as we were last time...

    I guess we'll see what tomorrow brings...I hope it's a "wheeeeeee!" day...

  • Alice in Wonderland is officially over.

It was such a nice show...my little bumblebee created a dance just for me, which he would do almost every time he saw me...he would follow me around and say, "Pam! Pam! Pam!" until I turned to acknowledge him, and he would do the Pam Dance. It was sweet the first hundred times I saw it.  :) Of course, he also told me he'd miss me, so it was easy to let him think I was delighted to see the Pam Dance yet again.

And the little lobster girls loved yelling "You're Awesome, Five!" every single time I told them they had five minutes until the show started. I would yell back, "No, YOU'RE Awesome!" and they would yell back, "No, YOU'RE Awesome!" until one of us gave up...usually me.  :) But it was terribly cute, and it was sweet that they looked forward to telling me I was awesome. Sometimes I was awesome infinity.

I would miss the show, but Greater Tuna opens in two weeks, and Julia and I are dressers for the show...and we start dressing Wednesday. Luckily, there are only two weekends of performances. Because then we go directly into Babes In Toyland, which Josh is choreographing, and is also a Family Series show (meaning more children).  Some of the mothers I worked with in Alice in Wonderland are also helping out with Babes In Toyland, so I'm looking forward to that.

I've started making monsters...knitted ones. They're terribly cute. Julia saw my first one and said I should sell them, and maybe I will. I took pictures, but can't get them on my blog. I have no idea why. And I messed up my profile photo, too...I had a new one, but couldn't get it uploaded. Not frustrating at all.

Work is work...last week was good, but the week felt like it lasted forever. I hope this week is painless and flies by. I especially want the painless part.  :)

We'll see.  I'll work on the pictures.
